Mike Farnan and TogetherLeeds want talks

Recently Massimo Cellino has appealed on the Football League's decision against him taking over Leeds United but it still looks like the roads are closed for Mr Cellino. Tonight we heard from Mike Farnan who is part of the TogetherLeeds consortium and are still in the frame of taking over the club but the problem seems that GFH aren't willing to talk.

In Farnan's interview on Sky Sports News he stated the following:
"We are a very sound group. We are a very experienced group. We have the interests of the football club at heart. We do not want to the see the club going into administration."
"If Massimo Cellino fails with the appeal, we want to be the alternative choice to take this football club forwards."
"We believe we have the ability, the money, the will and the strategy to take the club from the starting line next year, equal terms to everybody else in the Championship, to give us a good shot at Premier League."
"We have enough (money). We have a clean, clear strategy. We have the funds available. The money we put in has to help this club back to where it belongs, and that's the Premier League. This is a big club; it needs a group of people, like-minded people, people from Yorkshire, people who actually care about the football club, belong to the football club, and are fans of the football club, to take it forward."
"We've been asking for a meeting with the owners for some time now and we are insisting we should have that meeting and we are prepared to sit down, show those owners proof of funds, show them we have the ability to take the club forwards, show them we have a vision, show them we have a strategy and show them we have the will, the way and the know-how to take the club forward."

Farnan refused to say whether McDermott would stay in charge if TogetherLeeds took over at Elland Road but said he is working under very hard circumstances. He also added that administration should be avoided and his consortium would ensure it didn't happen.

It's very clear that TogetherLeeds and GFH are on bad terms, we all know GFH don't give two monkeys about the club and David Haigh has said there is no chance of administration, but it's inevitable regarding the situation the club is in. Farnan and co seem to be the more likely option at present but the only problem is, are GFH willing to talk? I think the Football League should insist GFH to negotiate with TL and try and sort this forever-ending mess out.

  1. No thank you. You're not interested in negotiating unless the sellers are desperate. Not what we need. Institutional funding - how different to GFH is that ?

  3. Of course they are interested, they have been ready to bid since last year. GFH won't talk to them. I agree with what you mean with institutional funding 100% that clearly doesn't work with us.. but maybe TL do have money? Yeah Ashley, personally I want Cellino to be the man but it looks that TL are more likely as Cellino might still not get in. I hope Cellino wins his appeal because he is a genuine business man and he's got his own money, we've been crying out for this.

  4. Any other football club would have found an owner by now, but for some reason the incompetent GFH are not interested in anybody else, but Cellino.
The whole monumental mess will end up in disaster for Leeds, if a buyer is not in place by the end of April, because GFH clearly have no money left to run the club and administration would almost relegate a team and manager, who have no stomach for a relegation battle.
GFH are not even fit to run a bath, never mind a football club and I wish that the Farnan group could oust them as the clubs owners, but weather that is possible, I do not know.

  5. last year they bid 7m. and thats what gfh have told us - not them. They are ready to deal..... really - whats the deal? what have they told us.

Consider this - by buying LUFC all you are really getting is a football league share, bit of history, a load of diehard supporters, plenty of not up to it long contracted footballers and a none of the other things you expect to get (like grounds, training areas, season ticket income, pie income etc.)

So if they did have anything at all - surely they would be in the fans face to tell us what they are gonna offer - cos basically the next lufc deal is only a deal to buy the most loyal fans in the country - nowt else - theres nowt else left. They have been less open than bates. In fact Bates has reappeared over the last few days... is this institutional fundin Bates and his cronies ?

  7. "We have enough (money). We have a clean, clear strategy. We have the funds available."

    How much?
So clean and clear... it is invisible - what on earth is it ?
Er no you don't personally have the funds - and will be heaping debt onto LUFC from the off....

  9. Whenever prospective owners keep saying things like "we have the fans at heart" it means they don't! Craig Whyte sounded just like Farnan when he took over Rangers and that went well. They have no money! Neither did GFH yet they managed to take over, Cellino has money and has also been honest with us. No rhetoric , some of what he did annoyed the fans and rightly so. But he has been paying the wages, paying unpaid bills. All Farnan has been doing is talking!

  12. Cellino is not going to get ownership. The FL will not have it, and shadow directorship is not an option either. Those bastards will wait until his appeal, and I imagine the result will be the same when the appeal court reaches its conclusion. We can't wait that long... we will go under before this bureaucratic mess runs its course.

    1. The hearing is on Monday. There's reports that have said that Cellino could do it in his son's name and it's perfectly legal so if that could be done that would be great. Cellino should be getting approved anyway with the situation happening at Leeds, I hear these regulations that prevent Cellino don't have to be enforced at all times so with the current financial crisis at Leeds surely they could make an exception? But then again, it's the FL we're talking about...
