Leeds United: You're top of the league, we don't give a...

It’s about time we beat Derby - and there’s not a better time to do it when they’re sitting top of the league. The performance was complete and it puts us in good stead going into a tough run of fixtures, especially after throwing it away at Blackburn – and really – everywhere this season.

For once, we’ve been able to play the full ninety minutes and we looked a lot more solid at the back. Going forward I feel Cooper and Belusci should be the preferred option, not only do they look the more solid defensively but they both attack the ball – something Pearce never does.  However, Cooper’s decision making on the ball can be a bit dodgy at times.

We were first to everything all throughout the pitch, we seemed to have more intensity and we tried to be positive a lot more. I’m adamant that had we actually played in the second half of most of our games this season, we’d be sitting comfortably in a top six spot. In so many matches we’ve destroyed the opponent in the first half but came out distinctly lacking in the second.

There was a vast amount of incredible performances out there - but my pick was Stephen Warnock. He is a machine, both in attack and defence, and he provides the vital experience our team has been missing this season. He and Mowatt are building up a deadly partnership down the left and it’s great to see him nurturing the young prodigies.

Mowatt and Cook are both showing real maturity and professionalism on the pitch despite their age. Cook has a brilliant turn of pace and he made quite a few of bursting runs which is very positive to watch from a young man.

We’re moving into a tough run of fixtures and this will certainly leave us confident going to Ipswich – a team that looked to Noel Hunt to win a game!

Let us keep this form going and set ourselves up for promotion push after the turn of the year.

Marching On Together.
