Long Neck Murphy Clinches Vital 3 Points For Leeds United

Luke Murphy has again put in an outstanding performance helping Leeds to gain a vital three points giving that extra bit of air to breathe with at the foot of the table. His 25+ yard strike just after the hour mark paved way for Leeds to secure a deserved 3rd away win of the season and seeing them move up to 17th.

We went into the break at 0-0 after a solid first half performance, although Reading created a few chances our defence coped well with both Bamba and Bellusci defending adequately. They covered for each other excellently and Bamba in particular showed great physicality at the back.

We had a lot more possession in the second half and began to create more opportunities. Luke Murphy was unplayable, he was winning tackles getting us up the pitch and putting the opposition under pressure.

This is the Luke Murphy that was scouted and signed by Brian McDermott and over the last few games he's been starting to live up to that hefty £1million fee.

Charlie Taylor was also excellent, he too made a number of tackles and was always up in support at the other end.

One valid question after the match - when exactly will Steve Morison score?  The Welshman once again put in a great shift but failed to top it off with a goal. He managed to hit the post, I think that's now 3/4 times the woodwork has prevented him.

However, he did play a massive part in the winning goal, crossing to Sam Byram who headed in for his third goal of the season and topping off a pleasing away performance.
