Redders Edging Closer to the Final Leeds Salute

Neil Redfearn is vital to us, he’s backed fully by the fans, his record has been fantastic albeit under very strict and unreasonable pressure from the top, and to think that he may be on the way out should be worrying for us all.

It’s yet to break what the reasoning behind Steve Thompson’s suspension was but it’s not looking good for us no matter what way you look at it. It’s clear for all fans to see that Redders and Thompson have done a fantastic job and to disrupt their work like this all seems a bit surreal.

There’s been reports that Cellino has wanted to sack Redfearn throughout his successful spell in charge, for games that we’ve drawn and Cellino thought we should have won.

Remember when Andrew Umbers came out weeks ago and said that arranging contracts for players would be destabilising for the team. Well, today he has suggested that he was aware of Steve Thompson’s proposed suspension, and along with the board, accepted the proposal. He said although it was disruptive, he supported it. Isn’t he supposed to be a Leeds fan? If the job’s more important to him, he can rot with the rest of them.

Personally, I think Redfearn will be in two minds about yesterday’s events. In one mind he’ll be wanting to walk away with dignity because in all honesty – it’s criminally unfair to have a coach work under the circumstances he has. There’ll be another part of him thinking as a Leeds fan, he’ll be thinking that at least with him in charge he’ll be able to contain the Italians a little. At least prohibit them from completely destroying what it means to be Leeds United.

It was suggested that Steve Thompson was the instigator behind the massive squad changes, seeing the likes of Murphy and Morison brought to the fore, and the leaving out of players like Doukara, Bianchi and Adryan.

It’s been claimed all season that Cellino and co demanded that their summer recruits must play so surely this must have upset them?

However, we did get results, although not by playing the best football possible we still obtained vital points, and ultimately, Redders and Thompson saved us from relegation.

When you weigh it all up, you’ll come up with the same answer…

Crazy Italians.
