More drama at Leeds & looking ahead to Bournemouth

On the back of Massimo Cellino’s failed appeal against the Football League, tonight we will see another important game for Leeds United that you could say is another ‘must win’ against high flying Bournemouth. September 16 was the last meeting of the two clubs where Leeds came out the victors with a 3-1 away win, after that result we were two points ahead of them now we see ourselves 25 points behind.

Looking ahead to tonights match just tells you how low we have fallen and for years now we haven’t had a solution to this, but how can you when all we’ve had is crazy/crooked owners for the past decade. As i’ve mentioned owners, last night Phil Hay (@PhilHayYEP) tweeted the following, “Cellino claims Doukara, Bianchi and Sloth all said they wanted to move on if he lost his appeal.” Why would any owner of a football club want to say something like this publicly? It just makes the club and players look stupid, also it doesn’t matter if the statement is true or not, its just a very stupid thing to say. Personally i think its just an excuse to move the players on.

Regarding the statement above it would be hard for me to think these players will be involved tonight or even have a Leeds future, recently Doukara and Bianchi haven’t been involved much and before that, when they were involved they frustrated me. I was big fans of these two at the start of the season with their best performances probably being in our last match with Bournemouth, but you have to remember these ‘foreign’ players are raw talent when it comes to this league and they have only been playing in England for 5 or 6 months.

The thing that has annoyed me the most about Cellino is how its obvious we need to sign Championship experienced players and he keeps looking to Serie B players for the answer. Something worth noting is that Neil Redfearn hasn’t got the chance to sign any of his own players, it was reported he wanted to sign Becchio but Cellino turned his head to that. You could say Byram, Cook, Mowatt etc. are his own and he has worked with some of the others in the squad before, but he can’t succeed when a owner won’t let him sign players and the chances look even dimmer that it will happen now.

At least tonight we can escape the off field chaos for 90+ minutes, it will be a very tough game and as I’ve said before its a must win. The players just need to go out and perform.

  1. Billy and Don will be turning in their graves at the current series of misadventures. However the FL judgement is predictable given that the late Alan Hardaker had it in for us as far back as I can remember

    1. I think the majority saw the decision coming. Back when Hardaker was around the tension between Leeds and the FL was worse than it is now, for e.g. its like Don Revie or that great Leeds side never existed.
