It's the morning after, and the mighty Leeds United have returned, sealing a positive 1-1 draw against a tough Burnley side and carrying our preseason optimism over into the real thing.
It's been long, long time since we've been able to be optimistic after a Leeds United summer.. I personally have remained positive but always knew in my head that it was all going to come crashing down come the start of the campaign. But this time was different.
We genuinely had and have things to cheer about; the Chris Wood signing, Bamba returning and Tom Adeyemi bringing championship know-how and bite to the midfield. We've strengthened the team in areas where we needed it most, especially with the signing of Dallas filling our long vacated winger position.
Uwe's been fantastic and seems to have the team well drilled, we've got that competitiveness back that's been missing for a long time and we seem more like a team than we have in recent years.
I know it's early but the signs are there for all to see and after Byram's superb display yesterday we better hope we keep hold of him. He will be massive for us this year.
Wood didn't get off to the start he would have hoped for but it'll come good for him sooner rather than later and with Antenucci coming off the bench to do things like that I'm sure we'll be okay.
Onwards and upwards... we hope.
