Luke Murphy set to link up with Leeds?

This morning has seen social network site Twitter light up with the speculation that Luke Murphy is due to have a medical at Thorp Arch later in the day.

 A bid in the region of £1m is believed to have been accepted by Crewe but limitless questions are being asked as to how Leeds are able to offer such a substantial amount of cash.

The report of this possible acquisition comes as a surprise to us Leeds fans - just days ago we were hearing that we may need to sell to buy and that Brian may have to drop a few targets to land a few.

Even accepting the fact of Leeds splashing out a whopping £1m on a player isn't so easy never-mind the reality of our financial state especially as it has been notoriously documented this past week.

I don't know much about the lad but anything I've heard or read about him has been positive - he reminds me of the certain Jonny Howson from what people describe him like as a player. His style is effective, attractive and imaginative. That's what we need and what we've been missing - I really do hope this turns a done deal.

I have to admit that I'm worrying where the money supporting this transfer is coming from. I'm aware that we reportedly borrowed money from Dubai-based company Brendale Holdings but I can't imagine it to have been anything with overwhelming significance - and even if we did borrow a relatively large sum, it's so unlike Leeds to table such an amount of cash for just one player.

I guess I'm just struggling to come to terms with the speculation but during recent years I've developed a negative opinion when it comes to Leeds' willingness to splash the cash.

But nevertheless, i'm full of optimism!
