It has happened again. We’ve thrown away 3 points when we
should have won the game comfortably and another school boy communication error
has cost us.
Leading 1-0 at the break and playing pretty well, we needed
to push on. If we had taken our chances we could have been out of sight. There was too many times in the middle of the
field where we over played it – losing the ball at stupid times and for no
reason at all.
Football’s all about taking your chances and when they came
our way we failed to take them. It shows just how fine the line between victory
and defeat really is. Our team is raw and undeveloped in terms of chemistry,
but we have to learn to stay on top of games, especially when we are by far the
better team.
The result doesn’t reflect the entirety of the game, but
instead a moment of utter confusion and nonsensical defending giving Blackburn
an equaliser. Liam Cooper waited and waited for the keeper to come out and you
all know what happened next.
Communication is vital in all areas of the pitch, but the
defensive third is arguably where it is needed most. All it takes is a slight
wrong decision to be made and the ball is in the net. This is now twice an inexcusable
error has led to a goal and these sort of mistakes need to be stamped out.
We’ve got a tough run of fixtures coming up and we’ve got to
bury games when we have the advantage. We have the players to do it and we
should be doing it. If you’re leading a game by one - and dominating it – why can’t
you just go and finish it off?
It’s just because we’re Leeds United.
Totally agree thats why we need a strong and vocal centre back as well as cooper played he needs an experienced cb
ReplyDeleteAs regards up front get out and buy rhodes he would make a difference if not get billy sharpe back in with a run of games behind him he will score regular
Cooper is the best ball-winning defender we have by far! I've backed Jason Pearce for a very long time but as our team has improved around him it's made me wonder about him, he relies on his hands too much and he doesnt win enough headers. He does put his body on the line but we definitely need to look at the defence. Antenucci, to me, is a great striker, he just needs the service and I don't think our style of play really suits Sharp but he. can definitely score goals
Deleterubbish from top to bottom we are the easiest team to play against in the championship poor defending week after week games thrown away in the second half week after week no leadership on the pitch paying the price for poor recruitment even the goalkeeper is now a liability can anyone remember the last time we had a good back four am dreading the derby game with our defence
ReplyDeleteNow now, it's not that bad. The vast majority of our additions have been a massive improvement, yes the defence still needs looked at but the midfield and attack is looking a lot better. Our goalkeeper is not a liability, everyone makes mistakes but to me he's the best keeper in the league. You have to remember that with a major influx the team needs time to gel, you can see we are excellent in spells but get very complacent, we'll have a better idea at the end of the season. I have to agree, I've watched Derby a lot this season and they're phenomenal!
DeleteThe vast majority of the new additions are now starting to fade, since the cold winter has set in and I said that's what would happen, when so many European players were signed in the first place.
DeleteThe problem is not with the Leeds strikers, as some people are saying, it is the terrible Leeds defence who seem to self destruct and give away very cheap goals to make goals scored by Leeds strikers seem pointless.
The porous defence seem incapable of keeping a clean sheet and I think that Pearce is the worst central defender to ever play for Leeds. Pearce can not run, can not leap and the only thing that he is good at is hanging onto strikers shirts.
ReplyDeleteYou can forget the Play-Offs, I would be happy with this inconsistent Leeds team surviving relegation, because with the constant excuses and blaming of referees and the opposition, Leeds are sounding just like a struggling relegation team already.
you can only play good passing football if the team has a good spine and solid back four we have neither would also question the fitness and desire based on the fact we continually fall apart in the second half Blackburn should have been nowhere near our penalty area with ten men on the pitch if Mr redfearn is looking for an assistant how about George GRAHAM seem to remember him teaching bad players how to defend i wish
ReplyDeleteI'm one to think about what we have. We have good, attacking, passing footballers so we play passing football. All we need to do is put an end product in our play and games could be out out of sight and our defence wouldnt need to worry. We need to be more direct and risky, as we are always looking for the safe option, that way we will create more chances, so therefore create more goals, which in turn means the defence will be under less pressure.
