Would you welcome back Luciano Becchio?

Supporting Leeds United is very depressing at the moment, well it has been for recent times. We find ourselves only one place above the relegation zone in the league, to be honest I thought it would’ve been a better season than the last few with the players we brought in but this hasn’t been the case. We are struggling for goals and it looks like our best player will be moving on.

In my opinion Stephen Warnock has been our best player by far this season and I think the majority of Leeds fans would agree with this. I know his contract runs out at the end of the season and he is getting on in age but his experience is something we can’t let go of, as it is very valuable to our young squad. This transfer has really confused me, but after all it is Leeds United and we have Massimo Cellino in charge.

As I said above, we are struggling for goals and recently Neil Redfearn changed the shape of our side to a 4-2-3-1 formation. This was first put into place in our cup tie against Sunderland and I thought it was effective in parts of the game, but for this formation you need wingers and a target man.

In our game against Bolton we saw Steve Morison make a rare start and he is the type of striker who fits this formation. Another type of striker who is perfect for this formation is Luciano Becchio; who we’ve been strongly linked with this transfer window. Becchio was sold in the January window of 2013 and in return we received Steve Morison, Becchio hasn’t played very much football recently but I for one would have him back at Leeds.

Why would I have him back? He played here for 5 seasons and was very prolific in front of goal. I know he is 31 now but as I said he knows the club and this league. If Redders is going to stick with this new shape and Becchio gets the correct delivery up top it could be deadly. Becchio was a huge fan favourite at his time here and it really angered me when he left, but can you blame him for leaving? I know it didn’t forward his career but if he was to come back I would welcome him with open arms. Would you?

  1. Yes but....... are we going to play a system that will allow him to achieve what he is capable of.....if we bring him back and play the passing diamond then my feeling is we will be in the same boat?

  2. No! His time has passed with us. He's not fit and too old. We should move on.

  3. He's a good player for the system redfurn seems to favour 4-3-2-1

  4. Yes, bring back lucky Luciano. Else we will end up with useless Edgar Cani. At least Luciano loves the club and is championship proven goal scorer. But must play a formation with width that brings his strengths in to play.

  5. Letting Warnock go is treachery, although if he won't renew his contract there's not much we can do but really it speaks volumes that a very experienced and highly-credentialled player wants to leave what he obviously sees as a sinking ship.
