Neil Redfearn recently stated in an interview with
BBC Leeds’ Adam Pope that there are big name players who surprisingly want to
come to Leeds United.
"It's a big club. It's easy to sell.
They want to come. The names that want to come, you'd be surprised. There are
some big names that want to come.
I can only suggest and put these players
forward, It’s up to the powers that be to make the right decisions."
Phil Hay from the YEP has said that in January Neil
Redfearn was looking to bring Tom Ince and Matt Phillips to the club. Could
these be the big name players Redders was referring to?
We know the Emergency Loan Market is now open and I
would be more than delighted if we could capture Matt Phillips, it seems that
he is out of favour at QPR and he’s a player that can be dangerous in this
league as we’ve seen with his time at Blackpool. As for Tom Ince, he’s out of
the equation as he recently signed for Derby.
Redfearn hasn’t hid the fact that he is looking to
bring width to the club and Phillips fits the category. We haven’t seen real
capable players whose natural positions are on the flanks at the club since
Gradel and Snodgrass.
At present, we have struck a rich vein in form and
the team has learned how to grind out results. With the help of the loan window
we can bring ‘better’ players in like we’ve done with Sol Bamba in January.
The overriding factor in bringing a player to Leeds is are their wages. Yes, we can "attract" quality players, however, using the example of Derby ( as stated above ), they where prepared to pay Steven Warnock what we where not, and the same probably applied to Ince.
ReplyDeleteIts obvious Cellino isn't willing to pay higher wages, thats why most of our signings have come from Italy's Serie B. Im sure the players from there are on lower wages.
