McCormack to stay, the alcohol to go?

Pints on Patel?

Third bid has been rejected from Middlesbrough for Ross McCormack, believed to be in the region of £2 million. Also, director at the club, Salem Patel has allegedly expressed his desire to forbid the selling of alcohol anywhere inside the fortress of Elland Road on religious grounds.

First of all, what a distinctive urge of ambition coming from the ER headquarters this week! Three bids rejected for our star man, making you appreciate the Bates-free era at LS11, and signalling the club's drive for Premier League football next season.

McCormack was quick to rubbish reports stating that he was destined for a move away from Leeds saying, 'I know there are other teams interested in me, but I am very calm about the situation. Whatever is going to happen will happen. The main thing is that I am very happy here and focused solely on Leeds United.'

He added, 'If the club were to give me a longer contract, then I am more than happy to sign it. Whether that comes or not could be a different story.'

The Scot has proved vital to us over the last few years, providing the goals and assists needed to challenge at the very top. Everyone knows it would be a very stupid deal to let Ross go, especially with not much time being left to find a replacement.

Secondly, leading club director, Salem Patel, has been featured in the latest of the Daily Mail's productions. The not so trustworthy newspaper claim that Patel is attempting to proscribe the selling of alcohol inside Elland Road. As it's coming from the Daily Mail, I'd take it with a pinch of salt.

It's almost impossible that this can be true, noting that Leeds recently clinched a deal with Heineken, worth £250,000, as part of the new match hospitality plan, structured to bring back the fans who boycotted the club due to Ken Bates' dictatorship of a chairmanship.

If we manage to keep hold of McCormack, and even see him sign a new deal, you might even see Patel treat himself to an ice cold Heineken Strongbow. It's just a thought.
