As we found out on Monday, Massimo Cellino's proposed takeover of the club was declined by those 'fit and proper people' over at the Football League. All the talk among the fans was about takeovers, businessmen and Cellino, not about the footballing aspect.
Before our match with Bournemouth I thought to myself, we can finally escape this mayhem for at least 90 minutes but that proved to be false as we suffered a 4-1 thrashing to Eddie Howe's side. You need to remember around 1400 incredible travelling fans payed their hard earned money to come watch their team, a team full of players which we found out were speculating on who was going to pay them. This isn't the sort of players we want or the mindset a Leeds United player should have, right?
This season is already over because we aren't getting promoted and I'm pretty sure we aren't getting relegated. To be honest I'm not really worried about our remaining matches, the only thing I'm worried about is the ownership situation because if it's not sorted out the club can't move forward and if it were to drag on into the summer the effects could be devastating.
Due to the abysmal results we've suffered recently a lot of the blame has fallen on Brian McDermott. Now I know he has made a couple of bad decisions regarding the team but you just need to look at the circumstances he is working under. There is people calling for his head but I personally think this is crazy talk, it won't help anything, it will just make things worse and besides, could GFH even pay him off? Oh that's right, they wouldn't even buy washing powder.
Brian McDermott is a man with pride and passion who has stated before, he is happy as Leeds United manager no matter the circumstances and he would never walk away. This is the type of manager we need. Remember on deadline day when he got 'sacked' all of us fans were outraged and we wanted our man back, well we got him back and I really do hope he's here for the long-term.
Any other manager would almost certainly have walked away by now and if Mcdermott is going to be able to pull off this job then it will be somewhat incredible. Brian's job just seems to be made tougher and tougher every other week and he needs to get some ownership assurances immediately because if this runs on any longer, lets just say things won't get any better.

Signing Zaluikas.Wooton,Kebe,Stewart,Wickham,Hunt,Arybi,,playingAustin,Pugh,Varney loaning out White& Taylor, playing 3 at back, getting numerous hidings playing negative thought less football ,not walking out because he wants his pay off, blaming 2 wins in 18 on take over adds up to more than a couple of bad choices ,never thought I'd see worse than Warnock but I have now
ReplyDeleteHes the worst manager since Blackwell, agree with every point youve made.
DeleteYou must be living on another planet , the manager has lost the plot .
ReplyDeleteHe's clueless, his signings are ridiculously poor, tactics are non-existant and never have been. 2 wins in 18 for a club of this magnitude is shocking, regardless of whats going on with the ownership situation, some of the thrashings we've suffered, plus the Rochdale defeat are a disgrace. Utterly shocking management. I agree we cannot afford to sack his, therefore probably shouldn't, but if by some miracle Cellino's appeal is successful, or some new owners with money are brought in, then the first thing that needs to happen is McDermott out, as well as three quarters of the playing squad. McCormack, Smith, Murphy, Pearce, Byram and Mowatt only players worth keeping. (probably forgot the odd one) rest should be gone.
ReplyDeleteDo we bollocks need to back him!
ReplyDeleteYes 2 wins from 18 is a disgrace for a club like Leeds United but let's face it, we all know this season is over. Before Christmas everything was going smoothly at the club but once all this takeover crap came about everything just started to go down hill, I know not all of this is to blame on the takeover but that was when things started to get desperate. As for the signings he made 4 of of these were free agents Zaliukas, Hunt, Smith (who's been one of the shining lights this season) and Ariyibi which I don't know what was for happening with him. 3 signings he made on loan, Kebe (I know he's got talent as I've seen when he played at Reading but in my time he's one of the worst I've seen in a Leeds shirt), Stewart (who will be signing permanent) Conor Wickham who was recalled recently and Jack Butland. In my opinion McDermott only had money to spend on 2 players which was Scott Wootton and Luke Murphy, now if you look back at this it's what's been happening at Leeds for years free agents and loan signings. We all know what GFH are like now and it doesn't seem to me that they backed out manager, even old Hisham wanted to get rid of him half way through that certain match with Sheff Wednesday that I'd rather not talk about. The point I'm trying to make here is if all this takeover business is sorted out for the summer and Brian McDermott is properly supported and backed and can sign the right players he wants and create his own team I'm pretty sure he will be successful. He was given time at Reading and built his own team there and you all know what the outcome was. Don't get me wrong you have the right to think what you want about our manager after all you support Leeds, but I just think it's silly that we were all so disappointed when he got 'sacked' on deadline day and we demanded him back by protesting outside Elland Road and singing his name the whole game against Huddersfield and now some people are wanting him sacked. I don't know how the man has sticked it with the current situation we're in and the looneys that own the club, most managers would of walked but Brian has sticked it and he is proud to be Leeds United manager, Brian I salute you.
ReplyDeleteReply to Danny I wasn't protesting iwas overjoyed I thought we had got rid of the idiot and that would mean Austin not playing any more as well ,he has got his type of player in& although we know some of the crap didn't cost but they are on good wages bleeding the club dry when we had better players at the club already,& don't kid your self BMCD is only hanging around to take his pay off & as for singing his name at Huddersfield ooooooh BMCD after such poor football ALL season moronic, even before xmas only Ross,s goals covered over the cracks of clueless dross.,I should imagine you supported Warnock so no point me saying any more
ReplyDeleteMcDermott is totally out of his depth, just like his pathetic, greedy players, who the fans no longer have any respect for.
ReplyDeleteBy him being so negative about the players being affected by the possibility of not getting paid, McDermott is already excusing a potential bad performance and defeat against Doncaster on Saturday.
If I was a player however, I have to admit that the "passionless" McDermott would not inspire me, if he was my manager.
The manager is not fit to be the manager and most of the Leeds players are not fit to wear the shirt.
As usual some Leeds fans will always back everything that the manager and clueless players do, but the question is, are those the same people who backed Wilko after the terrible 3 - 0 defeat by Aston Villa in the 1996 League Cup Final at Wembley?
