Evans: 'Leeds United are a massive club'

Friday night will see Rotherham United host the whites in our televised game on Sky. On paper most Leeds fans would say this is a winnable game, but no game is easy in the Championship and Rotherham seem to be a stable home side being unbeaten in their last 3. A player we won't be seeing on Friday is our old friend Luciano Becchio, who broke his ankle and could be out for around 3 months.

A players name who's on the fans lips at the moment is Chris Dawson, Dawson's form for the U21's hasn't gone unnoticed and he has also earned high praise from Neil Redfearn. There has been a debate on who we could stick in the 'hole' the 2 names being Dawson and Adryan, I don't think this is a game we can just throw Dawson into but he definitely deserves a chance with the first team.

Millers boss Steve Evans, a man who I always thought was a bit of a headcase was speaking with the Yorkshire Post and has showed us great respect. He believes this is the biggest game he'll be involved in so far and is Rotherham's biggest league game since he's been at the club:

“We did not go on about English football that much up in Glasgow, but one team that we knew about was Leeds United.

“If you’re a Scotsman and you are of my age, how can you not know about Billy Bremner and Peter Lorimer? They are absolute icons and legends of Scotland and that is where their (Leeds) history and tradition comes from.

“Who can forget 136.000 watching Celtic against Leeds? I was a little boy and I was one of them.

“I have never hidden my views. If everyone in football took off their biased heads, Leeds United – by history, tradition and worldwide support – is the biggest club in the Championship.

“If you go to deepest Africa, people have heard of Manchester United. But they have also heard of Leeds United, that’s how big Leeds are.

“I do not need to tell the Leeds United followers about the great times that the club has had and the great times it will have again in the future.

“It is about football coming in cycles and when you are a massive club like Leeds, they will have their great days again.

“We will give Leeds the respect that they deserve, especially with their fanbase, which is incredible. We have got to be ready to match that both on the pitch and off it."
