Can we get behind Steve Morison?

I know I might get a bit of stick for writing this article because I've never seen a Leeds fan saying they like or rate Steve Morison, well apart from when he arrived from Norwich and a certain Argentine went the other way.

When Morison arrived at Leeds in the January window of 2013 the football wasn't the greatest as this was when Old Colin was in charge, I remember Warnock saying "Morison will be a legend at Leeds and the people will look back and say, bloody ell Warnock signed him." Morison scored in his home debut for the club and scored another 2 goals against Crystal Palace but he never looked the fittest and I think he had problems with injuries at the time.

Here are some quotes from a recent interview Morison was in, “I joined here 18 months ago which you wouldn’t believe because it feels like I have only just turned up.

“It was horrendous for the first 13 games or whatever it was. I had a couple of good games where I scored a few goals but looking back I should have taken myself out of the limelight and got myself fit.

“I didn’t do that and made a bad decision and that has hindered me ever since. I had a very average season at Millwall last year.

“Everyone is entitled to their opinion at the end of the day and I seem to have been tarnished with this tag of someone who doesn’t want to be here, I'm not sure where that has come from I'm not looking to leave.

“I have spent the summer getting myself fit and to be honest I thought that I was firing on all cylinders in pre-season. I thought that I was doing really well but then I got the set-back.

“I’m back now and I feel like I’m back to where I was two years ago. I feel like I am ready.”

People might think that Morison has a lazy attitude (including me) but in recent interviews we've seen that he isn't afraid of telling the truth and how he thinks things are at the club and this I liked. We all know Morison was a dangerous striker when he was at Millwall a couple of years ago and this season he thinks he is back to his best. We have other very capable players in his position at the club so can we not just get behind Morison? Support the players for your club. What can you lose?

  1. With the fierce competition for places up front at Leeds, I would rather see Billy Sharp in the team than Morison, who has always looked disinterested.

  2. I'm not saying we should start Morison, the point of this article is just to get behind the man.

  3. He didnt seem very excited when we scored against Wednesday. I would want a player to react when we score

  4. I was willing to give Morison another chance this season, but after he got that sudden injury, before the Millwall game at the start of the season, I lost respect for him, but I am still behind him, because he is still a Leeds player.
Leeds were desperately short of strikers for the Millwall away game and needed Morison and many Leeds fans still believe that he didn't want to play against his best mates at Millwall.

  5. Get behind every Leeds player but he is far too low down the pecking order to be of any relevance..He needs to get himself another club and get off our payroll for everyone's sake..He is a complete drain on our resources.

  6. I,ve actually watched a fit Steve Morrison play this season(U21 v Ipswich at TA) and he had a very solid game.He communicated well with his fellow players and looked like he could be an asset if needed.I believe he has been a victim of the same stupidity as Noel Hunt wherein he has tried to play when not fit. This guy can play and i wouldn,t like to see him bite us playing for someone else. If we were punching our proper weight he would,nt be near our 1st team but that is not the case at the moment.MOT
