The fiasco of Leeds United seems
endless. I was enjoying the peace for a few days where the only thing to worry
about was our younger players’ involvement with the England set-up. Now, the
powers that be, have once again struck, taking the more than familiar step of disgracing
our club, making us look more like a team from Serie B in Italy rather than the
mighty Leeds United from England.
Steve Thompson has been
suspended by the club, allegedly by Nicola Salerno. The reasons are unknown but it has left Redders seriously considering his future. There’s been absolutely no
indication as to what might have happened but hopefully things will start to
flourish.
Bizarrely, there’s even been reports that the letter
informing Steve Thompson of his suspension contained SPELLING MISTAKES,
believed to be from Nicola Salerno. Salerno is our Director of Football, but he’s
basically our scout. A scout suspending your assistant manager. How laughable
is that?
Redfearn has also been more or less
forbidden to play Mirco Antenucci for the remainder of the season – the bearded
striker is two goals away from earning an automatic extension to his contract
which is due to run out next summer.
The club, for some reason or
another, are not willing to commit to it, showing either a lack of ambition,
maybe they think he’s too old or maybe they’re planning to bring in another 15
Italians on season long loans with a view to a permanent - which we probably
aren’t willing to commit to either.
When Cellino came along, I was
more than happy and have always fully supported him. I’m one of the younger
fans and to be honest, I’ve never seen as much hope and promise than what I did
with Cellino. I’ve been ever so used to Ken Bates and GFH that I can’t remember
what it feels like to have stability. I'm beginning to see how all this craziness is never going to work.
Cellino is overly enthusiastic and
controlling, everything has to be done by him or else the whole club would get
sacked.
The question is: With Cellino
being banned, is he really the one making these decisions that came to fruition
today?
Our club is becoming more and more
the centre of the national press, I suppose it always has been...
But surely,
maybe one day before I die, we’ll have stability and be looking forward to
playing Real Madrid in the last sixteen of the Champions League.
