Young Players At The Club

So far in McDermott's reign, there has been more inclusion of young players in the first eleven. Not only have homegrown players been appearing in the squad in pre-season, we have saw young players brought into the club in the form of Matt Smith and Luke Murphy, which hasn't really been done in recent years. Leeds fans have also paid tribute to Dominic Poleon due to his superb form in pre-season.

Yesterday evening the U21 squad had a brilliant 9-0 win against Shelley, where Alex Mowatt scored 5! This is encouraging coming from a central midfielder, as we are crying out for a player in this position that can score goals. No disrespect to Shelley but they were probably no mach to even our younger team, but its still exciting signs. Its good to see the young players doing well and even better to see them playing with senior squad members in the pre-season games. This will certainly help them mature as players.

I'll be travelling to the match in Dublin against Shelbourne at Tolka Park to have a closer look at the young talent at the club. It seems that we will be fielding a young side with a couple of first team regulars. Brian McDermott has also stated recently that he will be travelling to Dublin and Rodolph Austin will join him with a couple more first team regulars.
