Paddy Kenny - 8
Paddy was excellent today, he made some outstanding saves to keep us in the game and he released the ball quickly to our full-backs to send us on the counter-attack. He committed his body many times in an attempt to get the ball. For Wednesday's goal Paddy was faultless, it was just the confusion of who was picking up who that saw us concede before the break.
Lee Peltier -9 - (MOTM)
Peltier was absolutely outstanding today! He made lots of tackles and interceptions and in the second half he was supporting the attack, providing that outlet from right-back that we have missed since Byram's been out injured. Lee is usually subject to widespread criticism from fans but after his performance today I'm sure he'll turn a few heads in his favour.
Tom Lees - 7
Tom was very solid at the back and he made some important defensive headers preventing goal-scoring opportunities. He is very composed on the ball, and reassuring coming out with the ball at his feet.
Jason Pearce -7
Alike Tom Lees, Jason was also very solid at the back today making last-ditch challenges and winning important headers. He provided to perfect cover fro Stephen Warnock helping to utilise the full-back's attacking prowess.
Stephen Warnock - 8.5
Warnock covered the serious amount of ground today, supporting the attack and still being a key defensive body. He was very close to man-of-the-match but Peltier's stand out performance just made it impossible. Warnock was pivotal to us on the counter-attack and he also played some very good ball up the wing.
Paul Green -4
Paul Green was awful today, he was forever loosing the ball and his balance when in possession was atrocious. Overall his game was of a very low standard.
Rodolph Austin - 7
Rudy was the usual warrior today, breaking up play, and getting to the ball first. He made some great defensive interceptions and he had the ability to turn defence into attack with that one pass. He made some really good last-ditch slide tackles preventing the opposition clear sights on goal.
Luke Murphy - 7.5
I though Luke did very well today despite his lack of creating chances in forward areas. He made lots of tackles and he was constantly hassling the opposing players. He is a good passer of the ball, and he seems to be very confident whilst in possession. He never panics under pressure which is key if you are going to be a top midfielder in the championship.
Ross McCormack -7.5
If Ross played like he did in the the second half in the first he would be my man-of-the-match . In the first half he didn't seem to get into the string of things. But in the latter he was excellent, scoring an excellent goal and destroying the opposing defenders. His ball control and first touch is sublime and he is brilliant at bringing other players into the game.
Luke Varney - 6.5
Varney never really got involved in the game today but as ever he worked his socks off which is almost most important in a team where quality is lacking. He didn't seem to win the same amount of headers per usual but I'm sure Varns will come good during the course of the season.
Dom Poleon - 7
I'd give Dominic an endeavor for his performance today. He was forever trying to make something happen with his explosive pace and his directness. He was unlucky not to be awarded a penalty with the defender pulling his shirt. I'm sure McDermott was happy with the young players showing today.
Subs:
Michael Tonge - 6
Tonge was okay today, he probably only got a chance due to how poor Green was but he was certainly a lot better that Green. He is good on the ball but he has a distinctive lack of pace.
Matt Smith - ?
Never really got involved in the game in his short appearance on the field.
El-Hadji Diouf - ?
Same goes with Diouf, he never really got involved but you could see that he isn't at full fitness.
